The World Keeps Turning

The world is not a kind place. Not a kind place at all in fact. You will try your hardest to scrap together some slice of happiness, but the world is not a kind place. You can be successful have all the money the world has ever known but death eventually comes for you. You could be dirt poor and happy as a button with your wife and child but the world gives your wife lung cancer because of your poor living conditions. Then your child will hate you for her death, do drugs, go to jail and get stabbed to death while dropping a deuce because he stole from the wrong guy. You could be an activist fighting for said little man and his now dead family because the government dumped the chemicals that gave his wife cancer. You find that the world is not a kind place. That government kidnaps you and puts you into a reformation program and you come out counter-protesting your former friends and allies in the streets of some shitty city you all call home.

You may be a man and white and straight. You differ from that and the world gets a lot harder for each one of those you change. You do your best, but you know that you had to work harder than any man, any white man, any white straight man because the world is not a kind place. You die, leave your mark and the world keeps turning. You could be reading this and be a stupid 20-year-old kid just bitchin about his problems. You could be reading this and be a LBGTQ rights activist already thinking about the blog post you will write about this. You could be anyone or anything. I don’t care. The world is not a kind place and it will keep turning long after you die and after your children’s children die. Have a nice day.

“Have a nice day.”
